Well, it is day4 & we are officially paci free!! YAY!
Friday, Ellie threw her paci in the trash. She was a bed time/nap time paci girl. Every time she woke up, she tossed her paci & lovie in her bed. It was a great rule & it worked for us for months. Here lately, she figured out how to reach through the rails & get it out. So the last month or so I started putting the paci up on the book shelf. Well, last week she was wanting the paci more often. I kept reminding her that pacis are for babies. Sometimes that was enough & she would give it up, but Friday she wouldn't! After going back & forth I told her to go throw the paci in the trash... & she did! ugh oh! what to do now?!?! She kept saying paci babies bye bye & would wave at the trash can ~ so sweet, just melted my heart!
My mom, o' wise one, said don't get it out of the trash or she will always think you will. So, we decided to go with it! @ 17 months old. Friday night she was not happy about going to bed! We fought through the tears :( I got her out of bed & she fell asleep on me. Saturday night, she fell asleep but woke up twice during the night & ended up in bed with us. Sunday night was night 3 & i had to be tough. She cried on & off for almost an hour. I never got her back out of bed, just kept going in to settle her down. She finally fell asleep & slept through the night! YAY~ Monday's nap went pretty well ... meaning she fell asleep on her own, in her bed, without a paci! And, lastly Monday night she went to bed, after our nornal routine without paci & slept through the night! SUCCESS!!
I am so proud of her! She is such a big girl, even more now!
